About the book
Sarah J. Maas's fantasy romance opens when Feyre, a 19-year-old huntress, slays a wolf in the forest. A fearsome creature then comes to claim payment for the killing and takes her to a treacherous magical land she knows only from legends. Published in May 2015, the novel launched the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, which follows Feyre through the faerie lands of Prythian and has sold more than 13 million copies. Maas began writing it in early 2009, completing a first draft in about five weeks, and first conceived the series as a retelling of fairy tales including Beauty and the Beast and Tam Lin.
Mel Robbins said that once she started listening to it she could not stop, likening it to finding a soap opera she never knew existed and saying she grew deeply invested in the characters.

Once I started listening to a Court of Thorn and Roses, I couldn't stop listening. It was like discovering a soap opera that I didn't know existed. I became so invested in the characters.
