About the book
R. H. C. Davis's survey of medieval Europe runs from Constantine to Saint Louis and has long given undergraduates and A level students a grounding in the period. A third edition adds a section by R. I. Moore of Newcastle University on later research at the end of each of Davis's chapters.
Paul Graham suggested it might be the best single choice for anyone limited to one book on medieval history, and advised buying a used copy.

This book has 1 recommendation
If you could only read one book on medieval history, R. H. C. Davis's History of Medieval Europe might be the best choice. Used copies are much cheaper, and probably better printed too, so I recommend buying it used.
