About the book
The founding of Facebook at Harvard is the subject of Ben Mezrich's account, told largely through Eduardo Saverin, his main consultant, and Mark Zuckerberg, undergraduates and best friends who felt like outsiders among the school's prep-school graduates. Saverin seeks acceptance through the elite Final Clubs, while Zuckerberg builds a site rating female students that crashes the university's servers and nearly gets him expelled. The story moves through the Winklevoss twins and Divya Narendra, the launch of thefacebook, Sean Parker's arrival and the move to Silicon Valley, as the two friends drift apart. Mezrich drew on conversations with Saverin and court documents, and Aaron Sorkin adapted it for the 2010 film The Social Network.
Kevin Spacey praised it as a juicy, fast-paced Mezrich tale and was working on its film adaptation at the time.
