About the book
A young American named Anna, the heroine of Emily Everett's novel, first fell for London in her hometown library, reading about Jane Austen balls while living on food stamps and hand-me-downs. When she finally moves there after college, she finds a moldy apartment and the same struggle from one paycheck to the next. Then the Wilders hire her as a tutor for their teenage daughter and fly her to Saint-Tropez, and the enigmatic elder sister pulls her into a whirl of parties and excess. Two young men take an interest: one wants to sweep her into his world, the other sees her effort to outrun her past. The 2025 novel was longlisted for the Massachusetts Book Award.
Reese Witherspoon chose it as an April pick for Reese's Book Club, describing a story of love, ambition and the cost of belonging that hooked her from the start of the audiobook.

April’s Reese's Book Club pick had me hooked the moment I started the audiobook. All That Life Can Afford by Emily Everett is about love, ambition, and the cost of belonging, and I cannot stop thinking about it.
