About the book
James Allen, a British writer and pioneer of the self-help movement, sets out in an essay the idea that thought shapes character and circumstance. In his own description, the work deals with the power of thought and its use toward happy ends, and holds that each person carries the key to every condition in life and can remake that life by working patiently on his thoughts. The title borrows a verse from Proverbs, chapter 23, verse 7. Allen kept it simple and cheap, priced at one shilling and small enough for a pocket. It has been reprinted widely, is now in the public domain in the United States and most other countries and has inspired later motivational and self-help authors.
It appears in Tools of Titans among the books recommended by Tony Robbins.
