About the book

David Lifton's first-person account of a 15-year search into the assassination of John F. Kennedy centers on one contradiction: the wounds that medical staff at Parkland Hospital in Dallas described that afternoon did not match what autopsy doctors at Bethesda Naval Hospital found that night. The Dallas staff reported signs of a shot from the front, while the autopsy placed every entrance wound in the back and the rear of the skull. Lifton's thesis is that conspirators secretly altered the body between the two hospitals to fit the official story of a lone gunman firing from behind. Dismissed by mainstream critics as bizarre, it still reached fourth place among nonfiction best sellers in The New York Times by March 1981.

Joe Rogan named it his favorite book on the JFK assassination, and probably his favorite conspiracy book of all.
