About the book
Tina Fey's autobiographical comedy book runs from her youth in Pennsylvania as a young nerd, through amateur improv in Chicago, to writing and performing on Saturday Night Live. Along the way she covers a halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty, a one-sided college romance, a nearly disastrous cruise ship honeymoon, and life as a mother. Chapters compare male and female comedy writers, recall rehearsing her Sarah Palin impression while trying to get Oprah onto 30 Rock, and describe planning her daughter's Peter Pan birthday party. It spent five weeks at number one on the New York Times list, and her narration of the audiobook earned a Grammy nomination.
Sheryl Sandberg said she loved it and did not want it to end, finding it both hilarious and important, and as someone also called bossy as a girl she thanked Fey for being outspoken and unapologetic.

I absolutely loved Tina Fey's "Bossypants" and didn't want it to end. It's hilarious as well as important. Not only was I laughing on every page, but I was nodding along, highlighting and dog-earing like crazy. [...] It is so, so good. As a young girl, I was labeled bossy, too, so as a former - O.K., current - bossypants, I am grateful to Tina for being outspoken, unapologetic and hysterically funny.
