About the book
A trip from Britain to Texas, meant to give Simone time with her daughter Lucy before Lucy leaves home for university, opens Gillian McAllister's thriller. After their first night in a cabin in the desert, Simone wakes up to discover that Lucy has vanished, with an unfamiliar mobile phone left in her place. The caller sets the terms: no police, come to a meeting place, be ready to make a deal. Her husband wants the police brought in, but Simone fears the kidnappers could kill Lucy if she tells anyone. The two have always been close, and there is nothing Simone would not do for her daughter.
