About the book
Iurii Shcherbak's account of the April 1986 disaster at Chernobyl is built on interviews with many of those involved. Regarding the accident as the most important event in the Soviet Union since the Second World War, he went to live there to talk to participants. Ian Press translated it, and it appeared in 1989.
Craig Mazin, creator of the Chernobyl television series, wrote in his Twitter bibliography that it has some amazing material from a Ukrainian and Soviet perspective.
