About the book
Rosanne Cash's memoir covers her upbringing in Southern California as the daughter of Johnny Cash, along with her relationships with her mother and her stepmother, June Carter Cash. She recalls making her first album for a German record label, her rise to success, her marriage to Rodney Crowell in Nashville and her dealings with the country music establishment. She later took her music in a new direction and moved to New York. Cash writes about motherhood, about facing the deaths of her parents partly through music, and about how she writes songs. It also covers her life with her current husband and musical partner, John Leventhal. Beyond music, she has also published essays and short stories.

I read so many biographies this year [...] A final book I’d add this collection would be Rosanne Cash’s memoir, Composed. I heard about it from Steven Pressfield and it’s excellent.
