About the book
Luca Dal Monte, described as a Ferrari insider, spent years researching Enzo Ferrari in Italy and abroad. He covers Ferrari's years as a driver in the 1920s, his running of Alfa Romeo's racing teams in the 1930s, the founding of his own firm and racing team in the late 1940s, and the road and race cars that followed. Dal Monte also examines lesser-known episodes, from early failed business ventures to political dealings with the Fascist regime, the Allied occupiers and even Communist leaders, and the internal politics of a company where Ferrari used force, paranoia and guile to manipulate staff, drivers, rivals and the press. It also portrays 20th-century Italian life and business.
