About the book
Brock Yates interviewed more than one hundred people who worked with Enzo Ferrari for this life of the man who rose from modest beginnings in Modena to build a business and racing empire around the world's most exotic cars. Yates asks whether Ferrari was the benign padrone of press legend or a despot who drove his staff and drivers to the edge. He covers two world wars, love affairs, political intrigue, Ferrari's work with Mussolini's fascists, repeated financial crises and the 1956 death of Dino, his only legitimate son, against the history of Bugatti, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Nuvolari and Fangio. It inspired Michael Mann's film Ferrari.
