About the book
Dr. Seuss tells, in rhymed verse with his own illustrations, of the Grinch, a grumpy loner whose heart is two sizes too small and whose home is a mountain overlooking Whoville. After 53 years of noisy holiday celebrations below, he resolves to keep Christmas from coming. Disguised as Santa Claus, with his dog Max pulling the sleigh, he slips into the homes of the Whos on Christmas Eve to carry off their presents, their feast and their decorations. The story takes aim at the commercial side of the season. Random House published it in 1957, and it was later adapted as a 1966 animated television special narrated by Boris Karloff and as a 2000 film starring Jim Carrey.

Truthfully, I have 3 young kids so don’t get much time to read other than to my kids at bedtime. So you’ll understand when I say my favourite books are Children's books by Dr Seuss, they’re a joy to read and cover a range of social and political issues with an elegance and simplicity that exceeds many adult books. The anti materialism/ consumerism ‘Grinch Who Stole Christmas’ and ‘The Lorax’ about environmentalism are favourites in our house.
