About the book

R. Buckminster Fuller's 1983 book takes on the giant multinational corporations that exert growing control over daily life; its title stands for Gross Universe Cash Heist. Written as a modern allegory, it traces how these giants grew from the military-industrial complex after World War II into a corporate world of abstract legal entities. Fuller treats academic economics as irrelevant because it rests on an assumption of scarcity he considers invalid. He asks whether national sovereignties and corporate profits can survive the technology revolution needed to end wars by raising living standards worldwide, and portrays multinationals as both the height of capitalist selfishness and an unintended force dissolving national borders. Collaborator E.J. Applewhite saw it as completing Fuller's literary canon.

Robert Kiyosaki said it was one of the books that opened his eyes, called Fuller his mentor, and said its message is as relevant now as it was in 1983.

Robert Kiyosaki (Best-selling Author)

Buckminster Fuller's GRUNCH of Giants was one of those books that opened my eyes. Fuller was a genius—an inventor, architect, and philosopher. He was my mentor. And what he wrote in GRUNCH is as relevant today as it was back in 1983.
