About the book
Set at Elsinore Castle in Denmark, William Shakespeare's tragedy follows Prince Hamlet, who comes home for his father's funeral and finds that his uncle Claudius has already taken the crown. A visit from his father's ghost turns Hamlet's suspicion into certainty that the old king was murdered, and he swears revenge. The play follows his halting pursuit of that vow through a series of charged confrontations and the soliloquies around them. Its themes include succession, kingship and regicide. The title part is often counted among the most demanding roles in Western drama, and it has tested generations of leading actors.

Philosophy runs through this play–all sorts of great lines. There are gems like “..for there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so” which I used in my last book and “Beware of entrance to a quarrel; but, being in, bear it, that the opposed may beware of thee.” was a favorite of Sherman.
