About the book
Al Gore's companion to the documentary film of the same name expands on the lecture about global warming that the former U.S. vice president has given for years. It combines recent research by scientists around the world with photographs, charts, diagrams and Gore's personal stories to show how fast and how widely the climate is changing. Its core chain of argument runs from human greenhouse gas emissions to rising global temperatures and the harm those changes do to people and other forms of life. A section on the politicization of global warming suggests many resist the evidence partly because accepting it would mean changing how they live. Rodale published it in 2006, and Gore later followed it with Our Choice.
Richard Branson included it in his list of 65 books to read in a lifetime.
