About the book

A dyslexic kid from Brooklyn who had struggled to finish high school when he first reached the jungle, explorer and conservationist Paul Rosolie writes about his life in the Peruvian Amazon, a region of vast biodiversity that is home to giant anacondas and uncontacted tribes. With the indigenous naturalist Juan Julio Durand he spent two decades building Junglekeepers, an organization that protects more than 110,000 acres from deforestation and shares its progress online. Rosolie describes the harder later years of chain saws, huge fires and illegal miners, and recounts a first contact with the Mashco Piro, one of the most mysterious uncontacted tribes. It became a New York Times best seller.

Lex Fridman highly recommended the book and its audiobook, saying it recounts intense stories from Rosolie's years in the jungle, including an extended encounter with an uncontacted tribe.

Lex Fridman

He has a new book coming out in a few days titled Jungle Keeper that you should definitely go pre-order now. It tells some intense stories about his time in the jungle over the past several years, building up to a few epic recent events, including a new full-on extended encounter with an uncontacted tribe that we discuss in this podcast. Both the book and audiobook are great. I highly recommend it.
