Life After Google

George Gilder argues that the era of Google, founded on big data and machine intelligence, is ending. He contends that its model of collecting data and selling ads, giving services away instead of charging prices, strangles entrepreneurship, while Silicon Valley has all but given up on security. In his view no fix is possible inside today's computer and network architecture. His answer is the cryptocosm, an architecture built on the blockchain and its derivatives, which supports cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and ether and, he says, will give the internet a secure global payments system. He predicts a great unbundling that disperses computing power and commerce away from a few dominant giants.
