About the book
Journalist John Grogan recounts the 13 years he and his family shared with Marley, a yellow Labrador retriever. John and Jenny were young and just starting their life together when they brought home a puppy who grew into a 97-pound force of destruction. Marley crashed through screen doors, gouged drywall, drooled on guests and ate almost anything, couches and jewelry included. He was expelled from obedience school, and tranquilizers from the veterinarian did not calm him, yet his loyalty to the family never wavered as children arrived. Told in the first person, the memoir was later adapted by Grogan into three more books and became a 2008 comedy-drama film.
Craig Pearce, co-founder of Kid Genius, named it as an example of the dog books he read before he moved on to business and startup titles.
