About the book
Aziz Ansari, an American stand-up comedian, teamed up with New York University sociologist Eric Klinenberg to study how technology and a changing culture have reshaped the search for love. The pair interviewed hundreds of people in cities including Tokyo, Paris, Wichita and Buenos Aires, ran focus groups, gathered answers through a reddit forum called Modern Romantics, and drew on scholars such as Sherry Turkle, Barry Schwartz and Sheena Iyengar. A central idea is the paradox of choice: more romantic options can make settling on one person harder. The book mixes comedy with social science and contrasts today's later marriages with a time when people wed someone from their neighborhood. It won the 2015 Goodreads Choice Award for Non-Fiction.

Deepak Chhugani (Founder/The Lobby)
My favorite book in recent years has been Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari. It was very funny and put into perspective some very entertaining examples of generation gaps and cultural differences I’ve witnessed first-hand, growing up at the intersection of Asian (Indian parents), Latin American (grew up in Ecuador) and US culture (I’ve lived here for ~7 years now).
