Moorish Spain

Richard Fletcher's Moorish Spain is an introduction to the history of Islam in Spain, from 711 through to the modern era. Fletcher tells the story of a period that changed culture and society in Spain and, beyond it, across Europe. His analysis of how Moorish influence changed architecture, art, literature and learning sits alongside a concise account of the wars, politics and social changes of the time. It is written in the same vein as John Julius Norwich's histories of Venice and Byzantium, and its themes include the Muslims of Spain and the Islamic influences on Spanish civilization.
