About the book
Steve Hilton, a Stanford visiting professor and former senior aide to David Cameron who went on to lead a tech company, argues that public anger at governments, parties and corporations has a structural cause. In his account, systems built in the 20th century, from health care to schools, cities and government, have grown too big, bureaucratic and distant from the human scale. Written with Scott Bade and Jason Bade, the 2015 manifesto draws on case studies from politics, business, education and design. Its proposals range from using neuroscience against poverty and inequality to borrowing from America's most radical schools, with the broader aim of putting decisions closer to the people they affect.
