About the book
Eric R. Kandel edited the neuroscience textbook with fellow Columbia University professors James H. Schwartz and Thomas M. Jessell, and it aims to cover the whole of current knowledge about the brain. The original edition ran to 468 pages and the sixth to 1,646, with sixty-four chapters in nine parts, from the cell and molecular biology of nerve cells and synaptic transmission through perception, movement, emotion and motivation, development, and learning, memory and language, to diseases of the nervous system. The editors are among 45 contributing authors, including Nobel laureate Linda B. Buck, and Kandel received a share of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for 2000. Undergraduate, graduate and medical courses in neuroscience and neurobiology often assign it.
Andrew Huberman named it in conversation, noting simply that it is a science book.

One book I'll leave as a mystery, not to be mysterious, but because it's a science book. I'll just tell you what it is. It's "Principles of Neuroscience."
