About the book
It is lying, psychotherapist Brad Blanton argues, that keeps people locked in a jail built inside their own minds, and that jail, not their circumstances, is the source of their stress. Keeping friends, partners and bosses in the dark about what one does, feels and thinks holds the door shut; escape comes from becoming skilled at truth-telling, with no white lies at all. Blanton, who trained with Fritz Perls and Werner Erhard, came to believe his clients suffered because they lied to the people in their lives. He presents honesty as a way to reduce stress and create intimacy rather than as a moral rule. Turned down by several publishers, he self-published the book in 1994.
NETOPIA mobilPay founder Antonio Eram suggested it as reading for young people interested in a career path like his own.
