About the book
Clive Cussler's adventure novel sends Dirk Pitt to Egypt in 1996, where a treasure hunt on the Nile turns into a race against environmental catastrophe. Pitt foils an attempt to kill a United Nations scientist who is investigating a disease driving thousands of North Africans into madness and death. Its suspected cause is vast pollution that threatens all life in the oceans. The story also ties in two old mysteries: a Civil War ironclad linked to Lincoln's assassination, and the fate of long-lost 1930s aviator Kitty Mannock.
Andrew Elliott, founder of GoDesignerGo, named it his non-business pick, valuing it as a fun, wild adventure and the kind of pure escapism that is sometimes exactly what is needed.

In terms of non-business books, my choice has got to be Sahara by Clive Cussler. I like it mostly for the fact that it is nothing more than a fun, wild adventure. And, frankly, sometimes a book that provides nothing more than pure fantastical escapism is exactly what the doctor ordered.
