About the book
A slim collection of seven short essays, plus a brief story of how brains evolved, presents lessons from neuroscience research by Lisa Feldman Barrett. The essays explain where brains came from, how they are structured and why that structure matters, and how each brain works together with other brains to create everything a person experiences. Barrett also takes apart popular myths, among them the idea of a lizard brain, the supposed battle between thoughts and emotions, and the contest between nature and nurture over behavior. The essays are short and written to be accessible.
Andrew Huberman called it wonderful, one of two books by Barrett he praised alongside How Emotions Are Made.

She's written two books that are really wonderful. One is "How Emotions Are Made," which was her first book. The second one is "Seven and a Half Facts About the Brain." It's a wonderful book as well.
