Jeff Hobbs, who met Robert Peace on arriving at Yale University and roomed with him for four years, tells his friend's story. Peace had grown up poor in the 1980s, raised by his mother while his father was in jail, yet he excelled as a student and went on to study molecular biochemistry and biophysics at Yale. The chronological biography follows his relationships with family, teachers and friends, and his passage between two insular worlds. It also examines race, class and the housing, education, justice and banking systems that shaped his life. It won a Los Angeles Times Book Prize and became the 2024 film Rob Peace, directed by Chiwetel Ejiofor.
