The habit began early: at fifteen he washed dishes at a comedy club to watch stand-up for free, and at sixteen he hosted a high school radio show in Syosset, Long Island, questioning heroes such as Garry Shandling and Jerry Seinfeld about their careers and how jokes work. The book also features Mel Brooks, Steve Martin, Jon Stewart, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman, Lena Dunham, Seth Rogen and Amy Schumer, among others. Taken together, the talks turn into a wider exploration of creativity.
