The Soros Lectures

Five lectures that George Soros gave in October 2009 at the Central European University in Budapest, a school he founded in 1991, make up the volume, which distills his lifelong reflection on finance, capitalism and the open society. The first two set out his general theory of reflexivity and apply it to financial markets and the crisis of the time. The third and fourth turn to the idea of open society, which has guided his philanthropy around the world, and to the ways capitalism can come into conflict with it. The last lecture looks ahead, giving particular attention to the growing economic and political weight of China.
