Sound for Picture

Tom Kenny's account of film sound in the 1990s goes behind the audio tracks of some of the decade's most prominent motion pictures, among them The Green Mile, Titanic, Yellow Submarine, The Thin Red Line and Austin Powers 2. It is an updated version of an earlier MixBooks title. Alongside the accounts of how each soundtrack was assembled, it carries an exclusive interview with the film mixer Walter Murch, a glossary of film sound terms compiled by Larry Blake, and an appendix of the Oscars awarded for sound and for sound effects editing. The updated edition appeared in 2000.

Andi Dumitrescu, a musician and filmmaker who also works in sound engineering, listed it in an interview among the books that helped him along the way.
