Swarm

After midnight one night an alien spacecraft snatches Kyle Riggs, the hero of B. V. Larson's military science fiction novel. The ship tests everyone it captures and kills the weak, and Kyle keeps passing. The novel tells of Earth's annexation by an alien empire. Humanity, long regarded by others as a primitive people living on a backwater planet, finds itself caught in a war and facing extinction. Each test he survives keeps him alive for the next. Swarm opens the Star Force series and runs to about 88,000 words.

It appears among the books serial entrepreneur and investor Fabrice Grinda recommends in a profile on how he reads almost 100 books a year.
