About the book
Born Andris Grof in Budapest in 1936, to a secular Jewish family, Intel chairman Andrew S. Grove recounts his childhood and youth in Hungary. Anti-Semitism shadowed his school years, which were interrupted first by the Nazi occupation, when his family went into hiding in 1944, and then by the postwar Communist regime. He was a good student of chemistry in Budapest when the 1956 Hungarian uprising convinced him to cross the border and emigrate to the West. The memoir also covers his escape and how he later went back to studying at the City College of New York.

Swimming Across is a great book, but not in the same genre or a relevant compare with H.O.M. But good tip!
