About the book
Evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins holds that there is almost certainly no supernatural creator and that belief in a personal god meets his definition of a delusion: a false belief held firmly against strong evidence. Across ten chapters he dismisses Thomas Aquinas's Five Ways, gives the argument from design longer treatment, and maintains that natural selection explains apparent design in nature. He then turns to religion and morality, proposing natural origins for both and arguing that morality can exist without religion. Among his stated aims are to show that atheists can be happy, moral and fulfilled and that children should not be labeled by their parents' religion. It reached number four on the New York Times hardcover nonfiction list.
