Jesus scholar Marcus J. Borg writes for people who have dropped many of the old teachings on God, Jesus and the Bible yet still hope for a faith that nourishes them. He argues faith can still be a transforming bond with God and stresses daily practice, exploring how prayer, worship, the Sabbath and pilgrimage can be experienced as life-giving. Borg also reclaims language often left to evangelicals and fundamentalists. He argues that being born again has meaning for all Christians, and that the Kingdom of God is a way of reshaping society around justice and love rather than a bulwark against secularism. At its core, he writes, the Christian life means opening one's heart to God and to other people.
Brene Brown said it brought her back to faith years after she left organized religion, and jokes that she is now a Borg-again Christian.
