About the book
Joseph M. Marshall III, a historian and storyteller descended from the Lakota community in which Crazy Horse was raised, sets out to look past the familiar warrior image of the Oglala leader. Marshall combines extensive research with Lakota oral tradition that is seldom shared beyond Native American communities. The portrait runs from the vision that drove Crazy Horse into battle to the woman he loved and lost to circumstance, and it celebrates the lasting culture of the community that held him up as its most revered hero. The San Francisco Chronicle wrote that no better account exists of Crazy Horse as the Lakota themselves know him.
Joe Rogan picked it up during a stretch of reading on Native American history, a subject he said had absorbed him more than any in a long time.

The latest book on Native American History I’m getting into: The Journey Of Crazy Horse by Joseph M. Marshall III. It’s been a long time since I’ve been so obsessed with absorbing information and stories about a subject like I am currently about Native American history.
