About the book
Written with Christopher Nolan's full cooperation, Tom Shone's study of the director is arranged in chapters built on themes and motifs such as Time, Chaos and Dreams. Nolan talks about his transatlantic childhood, his influences and methods, how he came up with the plot of Inception lying awake in his school dormitory, how his colour-blindness affected Memento, and his love of puzzles and optical illusions. Shone argues that time is Nolan's great antagonist. The book includes photographs, storyboards and sketches from the director that had not been seen before, and it covers his work up to Tenet.
David Senra covered it in episode 426 of his Founders podcast.
