About the book
Jimmy Connors's memoir comes from the player whose aggressive style helped set off the tennis boom of the 1970s and turned his duels with Ivan Lendl, Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe into prizefights. Long dedication to the game won him the public's affection, and at 39 he reached the semifinals of the 1991 US Open against players half his age. Connors writes openly about his complicated bond with his formidable mother, his romance with Chris Evert, the gambling and infidelity that threatened his career, and his lasting marriage to the former Playboy playmate Patti McGuire. After retiring he largely vanished from public view, and the book includes his own color photographs.
