About the book
Gary Zukav argues that humanity is evolving from a species that pursues external power, based on the perceptions of the five senses, into one that pursues authentic power, rooted in the perceptions and values of the spirit. The pursuit of external power, he contends, produced a survival-of-the-fittest view of evolution, set lovers, communities and superpowers against each other, and brought the world to the edge of destruction. Zukav holds that souls evolve as people develop latent powers, and he looks at multisensory individuals, at conventional marriage beside spiritual partnership, and at traditional beside spiritual psychology. In 2001 the New York Open Center gave him its Award for Clear Telling of Deep Wisdom, partly for the book.
