About the book
Audrey Niffenegger's debut novel follows Henry DeTamble, a librarian at Chicago's Newberry Library whose rare genetic disorder throws him involuntarily backward and forward through his own life, and Clare Abshire, an artist whose life runs in ordinary order, the two taking turns as first-person narrators. Clare has known Henry since she was six and he was 36; they marry when she is 23 and he is 31. His trips are unpredictable, he arrives with nothing, not even clothes, and stress can set them off, while Clare must cope with his frequent absences. A small San Francisco press, MacAdam/Cage, first published it, and it became a best seller after Scott Turow endorsed it on NBC's Today.
Gabriel Coarna, founder of Readable, said it made him cry.

Audrey Niffenegger's "The Time Traveler's Wife" and Garth Stein's "The Art Of Racing In The Rain" made me cry.
