About the book
Psychiatrist and researcher Norman E. Rosenthal draws on his own experience of Transcendental Meditation, his reading of the research on it and interviews with well-known practitioners such as Paul McCartney, David Lynch, Martin Scorsese and Russell Brand. He reviews studies on stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, ADHD and PTSD, and tells the stories of war veterans, inner-city schoolchildren and formerly homeless and incarcerated men. The book has four parts, titled Transcendence, Healing, Transformation and Harmony, along with a foreword by Mehmet Oz and an appendix interview with Bob Roth of the David Lynch Foundation. Rosenthal says it is not a manual for learning the technique. Tarcher published it in 2011, and an updated paperback later added a new final chapter.
Ray Dalio paired it with a second title as his two suggested reads in an exchange on meditation, saying they would supply both the motivation and the path.

I suggest two books – Strength in Stillness by Bob Roth, and Transcendence by Norman Rosenthal. After you read them you will find the motivation and the path you need.
