Over a single day in Dublin, 16 June 1904, James Joyce's modernist novel follows three Dubliners: Leopold Bloom, a social outsider who sells advertising; his wife Molly; and Stephen Dedalus, protagonist of Joyce's previous novel. Its eighteen episodes echo Homer's Odyssey, pairing Bloom with Odysseus, Molly with Penelope and Stephen with Telemachus, with further parallels to Hamlet. Written in a wide range of styles, including stream of consciousness, puns and parodies, it treats antisemitism, sexuality, Catholicism, Irish nationalism and British rule. First serialized in part in The Little Review, it faced an obscenity trial in the United States and long disputes over its authoritative text. Fans now celebrate the date each year as Bloomsday.
Musician and film maker Andi Dumitrescu said that a more rational pick for his favorite would be this novel or The Master and Margarita, though he thought that choice a bit snobbish.

If I had to make a more rational choice, I’d go with Ulises or The Master and Margareta, but I think that choice is a bit snobbish.
