David Deida's guide to masculine spiritual practice takes on the central questions men face, including career, family, women, intimacy, love and spirituality. It aims to be a practical guide to living with integrity, authenticity and freedom, combining direct advice, skills and body practices. Deida argues that men should move beyond two ideals: the macho type who has spine but no heart, and the caring type who has heart but no spine. In their place he calls for a unity of heart and spine. Other topics include knowing a purpose in the world, the role of challenge, and how masculine direction and feminine radiance give to each other. A later edition adds a new introduction by the author.
