About the book
Across pie charts, flow charts and other kinds of visual data sorting, New York artist Andrew Kuo turns the sad, comic and trivial details of daily life into art. His charts itemize things such as the things he feared in one November or his ideal slacker Tuesday, and they measure along odd scales, one tracking a band's records from Potheads to Mindblowing. The works recall Op art, Concrete art and Josef Albers, sometimes as deliberate homage. The collection pairs the charts with sculptures made from some of them, figurative paintings, diary musings and recipes, and its title borrows Mad magazine's slogan. An essay by Kelefa Sanneh, music critic at The New Yorker, accompanies the work.
Estella Ng, founder of Ripple Root, included it among five books she would recommend to young people interested in her career path.
