About the book
Jeff Jarvis, the blogging pioneer behind the media blog Buzzmachine, studies Google closely to draw out forty rules for running an organization in the internet era. Among his laws are thinking distributed, becoming a platform, making mistakes well, and doing what one does best and linking to the rest, along with the claims that the middleman is dead and that a company's worst customers are its best friends. He then applies them well beyond technology, to airlines, telecommunications, healthcare, government, journalism, education and book publishing. Thought experiments include a car designed by its drivers, an open-source restaurant and a university whose students set the curriculum. A later edition adds an afterword.
Bogdana Butnar, head of strategy at Poke, included it in her ultimate books to read list.
