About the book
Set in Boston, Neal Stephenson's second novel follows Sangamon Taylor, a chemist for GEE, a fictional activist group that stages protests and plugs the pipes carrying toxic waste into the harbor. Taylor gets around the city in an inflatable Zodiac motorboat, the brand behind the title, and shames polluting corporations in ways designed for television cameras. While measuring PCB levels in Boston Harbor with help from a fishing family that logs where it catches its lobsters, he collides with Basco Industries, a chemical maker experimenting with genetic engineering. Stephenson modeled his hero on the environmental chemist Marco Kaltofen.

I also have to say Zodiac by Neal Stephenson for fiction. It’s about an eco-terrorist in Boston. It’s an amazingly fun read.
