About the book
Written with Douglas Kent Hall, Schwarzenegger's autobiography tells how the Austrian came to bodybuilding and aimed to become its star. He holds the titles of Mr. Universe five times, Mr. Olympia seven times and Mr. World. He recalls his first visit to a bodybuilding gym, where the sight of men lifting weights showed him what he wanted from life. The book is also a weight-training guide: a step-by-step program with dietary advice, including a four-day routine of exercises for individual muscle groups, each shown in photographs of Schwarzenegger at work. Told in his own words for fans and would-be bodybuilders, it was a major success.
Ramit Sethi included it in his list of 50 books he recommends, and David Senra featured it on episode 417 of his Founders Podcast.
