Grant Cardone argues that obsession, rather than balance, is what produces real success, and that the usual advice to take it easy has become an excuse for being unexceptional. He calls the present an epidemic of average. The case rests partly on his own past: before he built five companies and became a multimillionaire, he was broke, jobless and addicted to drugs, and following the reasonable path urged by friends and family left him at rock bottom. Cardone covers setting outsized goals and reaching them each day, spending money on the right things so that more of it comes back, and using critics as fuel. Inc. Magazine counted it among the seven best motivational books of 2016.
