Johan Rockström and Mattias Klum start from the premise that humanity has entered the Anthropocene, an era in which the activity of more than seven billion people threatens to unsettle the planet's natural systems, with knock-on effects for human societies. The authors reject the idea that prosperity and economic growth must come at the environment's expense. Instead they argue that a deep change in mindset could let humanity reconnect with Earth, find shared values and act as the planet's steward, producing what they call a good Anthropocene. Science, storytelling and photography are combined to sketch a future of abundance that stays inside planetary boundaries. Yale University Press published it in 2015.
