About the book
The shift from nasal breathing to chronic mouth breathing, and what it has cost, is the subject science journalist James Nestor investigates. He explores research that blames the change on processed foods and links it to snoring, sleep apnea, asthma, allergies and autoimmune disease. Nestor meets scientists, experiments on himself in labs at Stanford, and revisits the methods of swim coaches, Indian mystics, Russian cardiologists and choral conductors. The book draws on pulmonology, psychology, biochemistry and physiology, and grew out of ten years of research. Published in 2020, it has sold more than two million copies and been translated into over 35 languages.
Andrew Huberman credited it with spreading information about nasal versus mouth breathing and called it excellent. Morgan Housel praised it for taking on something most people rarely think about.

A note about nasal versus mouth breathing: there is a plethora of information out there now because of James Nestor's book "Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art," which came out this last year, excellent book.
Breath. Incredible book about something most of us spend little time thinking about: breathing. Odds are you’re doing it wrong, it’s impacting your day, and you can improve it dramatically without much effort.
