About the book
Douglas Crockford, the American programmer who specified the JSON data format and built tools such as JSLint, argues that JavaScript carries more than its share of bad features because it was rushed out before it could be refined. He strips those away to leave a subset of the language that is more reliable, readable and maintainable than the whole. Crockford praises its good ideas, among them dynamic objects, functions, an expressive notation for object literals and loose typing, and warns against bad ones such as a programming model built on global variables. The book covers objects, syntax, inheritance, functions, methods, arrays, style and regular expressions. It was published in 2008 for developers building sites and applications for the web.
